                                           “MOONSTONES”

A much known, but somewhat overlooked area of collecting antique jewelry is the predominance of Moonstones during the Victorian era.

I have seen everything from Gold wash, gold fill(ed), to low carat and even high carat true gold used in a myraid of pieces...so do!  Look for moonstones, they were a very fasionable part of this era, and have a lovely glow not seen in many of today’s stones! 

Above: 14kt Brooch has c-tube closure, note the diamond accent! This remained overlooked at a local estate sale, because the workmanship was not as exact as machined pieces!

So look more closely when it looks hand-made, a bit different...between the gold, the diamond & the fact this is true Victorian, we value this old brooch at $650-$800!
